Tack Test
ASTM
Graph
This video introduces probe tack test of adhesive plasters (bandage). This method is used to measure the force when the probe contacts the adhesive surface for a certain period and then peeled off. A 90-degree or 180-degree peeling test is generally used to measure the adhesive strength of tapes and similar, but probe tack tests are ideal for thick or hard samples as to avoid bending, which could affect the results. The dedicated jig allows testing based on ASTM D2979 (2016) [Standard Test Method for Pressure-Sensitive Tack of Adhesives Using an Inverted Probe Machine] (corresponding part only).
